Almost 60 per cent of Toronto Hospital patients resided in Metro Toronto.

The Greater Toronto Area (GTA) accounts for an additional 16 per cent of our patients.

Approximately one per cent of patients come from out of province or country.

(This one per cent is broken down into 374 patients who come from other parts of Canada, and 126 from outside of the country. The highest percentage of out-of-province/out-of-country cases occur in transplantation, general surgery, pulmonary (lung) medicine and oncology).

Two-thirds of the patients come from the City of Toronto. North York and Scarborough each
contribute 10 per cent or more to our volume of patients.

When combined with statistics for patients seen in all Metro Toronto Hospitals, The Toronto Hospital provided 10 per cent of all inpatient care in the Metro Toronto market. These figures are derived using primary service area data which describe the geographic area from which 60-80 per cent of the hospital's discharge originate.
